What happens if I miss a lesson?
Donald Swimming does not offer refunds, we do offer make-up lessons for missed classes. Credits may be given for lessons missed where a medical certificate is produced or we are notified prior to the lesson. Refunds may also be given when a swimmer is withdrawing for the remainder of the program for medical reasons. Requests for refunds or credits must be submitted in writing.
What do I need to bring to lessons and training?
Donald Swimming recommends swimwear that is chlorine resistant and can be rinsed under cool water after each wear. If your child is not completely toilet trained, they are required to wear a suitable aqua nappy for hygiene reasons.
Goggles help children see underwater and prevent eye irritation. To help your child get used to wearing goggles get them to try them out in the bath or shower at home first.
All swimmers are encouraged to make use of the showers and changing facilities at the pool and have warm clothes to wear after their lesson. This will help prevent swimmers from getting sick, especially in the cooler months.
Squad swimmers are required to have their own training equipment (gear bag containing: kick board, pull buoy and fins). Donald Swimming strongly advises parents or guardians to label all equipment. Swimmers should bring a plastic drink bottle filled with water. It is good practice to ensure you consume enough fluids throughout the session.
What if my child doesn’t want to swim?
There is nothing to worry about if your child becomes nervous and anxious before a lesson, it is completely normal. Our first recommendation is to persevere with coming to swimming lessons. Your child may spend a few lessons adjusting to the new environment and teacher, however once a bond has been formed, they will start looking forward to each lesson. Should you have any concerns regarding this issue, do not hesitate to speak to the learn to swim coordinator.
How does my child move to another level?
Donald Swimming will always have an on deck supervisor/coordinator to assess the swimmer’s progress each lesson and provide you with feedback. Once your child has achieved the necessary skills, he/she will be promoted to the next level without having to wait until the end of a period. This is called ‘ongoing assessment’. The supervisor will then discuss this change of class with you.
What happens when my child has finished the learn to swim program?
Upon completion of our learn to swim program, swimmers are encouraged to transition into our squad program to continue developing their skills. For those looking to take their swimming to the next level, Donald Swimming also offers a competitive swimming club, providing opportunities for participation in competitions.
